Bringing WAFL Football to the Heart of the Avon Valley

The Perth Football Club is thrilled to announce its upcoming Round 9 game against the West Coast Eagles, which will be held in Northam on Sunday, June 2nd. Sponsored by Boekeman Machinery, WA Activ, and Celebrate WA, this event marks an exciting collaboration between Perth FC, the Shire of Northam, and the WAFL.

The Club is delighted to have a local company, Boekeman Machinery, as the major partner of the day. Boekeman’s Dealer Principal, Stuart Boekeman, said, “We are pleased to be a Major Sponsor for the upcoming Perth Football Club Home Game in Northam on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024. Our Company is celebrating 25 Years of Business in Northam (56 Years in total), and we are excited to welcome the strong Brands of New Holland Ag and Construction back to the Avon Valley and our Northam Dealership. New Holland will add to our existing CaseIH Brand in Northam to support the Growers of the Avon Valley."

Boekeman Machinery is prominent within the country zone of the Perth Football Club. They have their origins in the Mortlock Football League (Wongan Hills) and have been strong supporters of the Perth Football Club for many years.

The game, scheduled for 11:10 am at the Henry Street Oval adjacent to the picturesque Northam Aquatic Facility and Recreational Centre, promises a thrilling display of football prowess against the backdrop of the Avon Valley. Broadcasting live and free on the 7network, this event is set to captivate audiences both locally and afar.

President of Perth FC, Adrian Barich, expressed the Club's commitment to fostering regional connections: "This initiative underscores our dedication to bringing the excitement of footy directly to the people. For years, Perth Football Club has served as a launchpad for aspiring footballers from the region, nurturing talent that has gone on to excel at both the WAFL and AFL levels."

Barich continued, "We're privileged to have witnessed the rise of household names such as Darren Glass, Bobby Hill, Leon Davis, Chance Bateman, and many others who began their journey with Perth FC. This game is not only about showcasing our Club but also about celebrating the rich football heritage of the Avon Valley."

In addition to the on-field action, players from Perth FC will engage with the local community, visiting schools and hosting a footy festival aimed at celebrating country Clubs, the region, and its people. "As a 125-year-old WAFL institution, we are excited to share our legacy with the wider community," Barich added.

The regional zone encompassing Mortlock, Central Midlands, and Northern Midlands further emphasises Perth FC's commitment to promoting football development across Western Australia. Recognising the significance of Northam as a hub for talent, particularly among Indigenous communities, the club aims to bolster investment in both male and female talent programs.

Admission to the game will be $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners/concession, with all proceeds going towards the Avon Football Association and the Avon juniors. Children under 18 will enjoy free entry, courtesy of Celebrate WA. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to attend this community event in Northam, with details on event schedules and transport options to be announced shortly.
