2013 Robert Wiley Foundation XVIs Development Squad
XVIs SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT
After an intense selection process, which dated back to the 15s Carnival in October and has involved 72 players attending training sessions in December and January, the Perth Football Club has finalised the Robert Wiley Foundation XVIs Development Squad for the 2013 WAFL Carnival.
The selection process has included consideration of player performances in; two trial games, at XVIs Training, the 2012 15s Carnival, and 2012 club games. Some discussion has also been undertaken with local community coaches and observers.
Long and arduous deliberations have been ongoing since the commencement of the program with the final selections falling upon Bruce Fraser (Head Coach) and Gary Poole, Andrew Panetta and Matt Bateman.
A balanced squad of talls, smalls and mid-sized players, as well as positional consideration has been made and a balance of Perth Country Zoned players has also been a factored in to the final Squad makeup.
All players who tried out should be congratulated with the effort and commitment that everyone put into the program. Selections were tight and proved to be a particularly difficult task for the Coaches and while there will always be some disappointment, the primary aim of the program is to ensure the improvement of all players who come in to contact with the Perth Demons and prepare them for a huge football season ahead.
The Club would especially like to thank all the parents who tremendously supported the players during the Try Out by having them ready to go on time at each of the Training Sessions and Scratch Matches, your efforts are greatly appreciated. And after an exhaustive process that has seen Squad complete some challenging and gruelling sessions, the Perth Football Club is proud to announce the final XVIs Squad of 32.
