Round 14, Perth v Subiaco
Medibank Stadium
Saturday, 26 June 2010
Perth 6.3 8.5 13.7 14.10 94
Subiaco 3.2 7.6 9.12 14.15 99
A gallant Perth side did just about everything right but win an exciting match at Medibank Stadium on Saturday as they went down to the Lions by 5 points. In a match they led for most of the day Subiaco stormed home in the desperate last quarter with Perth’s best player Ross Young missing a shot at goal with the last kick of the day.
In perfect conditions for football Perth Captain Steven Armstrong won the toss and kicked to the city end of the ground.
Perth started well early and with Will Sullivan winning some early tap outs they enjoyed plenty of height around the ground with Andrew McDougall starting on a wing and Michael Johnson at Centre Half Forward.
It was Subiaco though that were the first side on the scoreboard through Full Forward Marc Re. The Phoenix Demons were certainly working hard and McDougall snapped a good goal to level the scores early on.
Perth was receiving excellent drive from Tendai Mzungu and Scott Siekierka and largely through their good work in the midfield Perth kicked successive goals through Young, who started well in a forward pocket.
